Contemporary, Californian inspired extension to existing 1930s property.
A former Bed & Breakfast, the new owners wanted a large open plan, but comfortable living space, perfect for entertaining.
Taking inspiration from the Californian hillside style Architecture, the entire rear of the property was opened up and extended to create a truly unique house of ‘two halves’. Extreme care was taken to fully conceal all supporting structure to create the clean and simplistic lines.
The clients wanted a large open plan entertaining space but zoned to create very defined spaces that are interconnected.
We specified smooth render, aluminium flashings and large corner glazing panels to maximise the views into the garden, with a feature cantilevered roof to create solar shading in the summertime and prevent overheating.
