Refurbishment of existing dwelling and contemporary rear extension
Previously an unloved home with several badly designed extensions, the new owners tasked us to create an open plan living space for their family, which had connected spaces with good flow.
Situated in a conservation area, RP Architecture gained planning permission to extend the existing house at the rear and side, creating an open plan kitchen, dining, family space, connected to a back kitchen/utility room to hide the clutter!
The rear extension was designed with clean and simple lines, yet references elements of the existing house, with large expanses of glass and smooth render. A statement terrace with built in outdoor kitchen has steps down to the garden.
The project was closely followed by George Clarke, and featured on Channel 4’s ‘Old House New Home’
